By optimizing the ECU, the wireless managed to amount the 2.0 litre turbo ice’s index product up to 199 hp. Direction was landscaped by equipping the car with Eibach Pro-Street-S coilover break and Stop-Tech brakes. 2011 General Motors Future Cars

General Motors Future Cars

2011 General Motors Future Cars

A year ago, General Motors filed for bankruptcy and installed a revolving door on the office of the CEO. Pontiac and Saturn are gone. Hummer is on its way to Chinese ownership. Saab remains in limbo and is likely to be liquidated soon.

A year ago, Nissan and Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn said, "In tough times, you have to look at and adjust your product-development programs, but you can't just stop. Because then, when things return to normal, you have nothing to come to market with. The one thing certain about the future is that people will continue to be driving cars." People are in fact still driving, and GM is preparing to roll out some quite interesting, relevant, and well-developed products.

Ford Future Cars

A Look at What's Coming for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury in the Near Future
From the January, 2010 issue of Motor Trend

When Ford CEO Alan Mulally took out massive loans in 2007 with the entire company serving as collateral, it looked like a desperation move by an automaker on the ropes. Come 2009, Mulally started looking like a genius.

Thanks to those loans, Ford didn't have to ask the government for loans or file bankruptcy, and thus didn't earn the public scorn that its cross-town rivals did. On top of that PR victory, Ford was a big beneficiary of the "Cash for Clunkers" program (Ford vehicles, particularly 90s Explorers, were some of the most common C4C trade-ins as well). And, thanks to some well-timed products like the 2009 F-150 and 2010 Fusion, its sales dropped slower than the market as a whole and the Blue Oval finished 2009 with a bigger share of the market.

Looking forward (and past the looming release of the Fiesta), Ford has enough product in the pipeline to build on its victories in 2009. Click through to the following pages for all the highlights of what Dearborn is cooking up for 2011.

BMW Turbodiesel To Be Used In Carbon’s E7 Cop Car

Carbon Motors has partnered with BMW Groups for its upcoming purpose-built law enforcement vehicle. BMW will be supplying the specialty manufacturer with an initial order of 240,000 with 3.0 liter sequential TwinPower turbocharged inline 6- cylinder diesel engines. The engines will also be specially equipped with BluePerformance technology.

The partnership pledges to reduce fuel consumption by up to 40 percent and carbon emissions by up to 30 percent compared to the current gas-powered law enforcement vehicles. The diesel engine will also provide less refueling downtime for officers with its 650-mile range per tank. The engine will also supply the car with more than 250 horsepower and 400 lb-ft. of torque.

Carbon Motors has not disclosed an exact fuel economy figure for their vehicle, but highway fuel economy reaches 36 miles per gallon in the BMW 335d—so the E7 could be expected to report something in the same range for the highway rating. BMW will also provide a six-speed automatic transmission with each diesel engine, which could suggest a zero-to-60 mph time of approximately 6.5 seconds.

The E7 features an extensive list of unique standard and optional features that will make it truly the elite law enforcement vehicle. Some of them include turn-key built-to-direct-order – 24/7/365 call center support system, aluminum spaceframe body structure, NIJ Level III-A (or better) ballistic protection (front doors and dash panel), 360 degree exterior surveillance capability, automatic license plate recognition system, video and audio surveillance of rear passenger compartment and a 130hz – 350hz bass siren.

Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Previewed

Hyundai Sonata
With the upcoming official unveiling of the 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid at the New York Auto Show, the auto company releases a teaser image of the vehicle to further up the hype.

The Sonata was designed at Hyundai’s design studio in Irvine, CA. Although there were reported heated debates over what the styling direction the new Sonata will be taking, it’s good to see it sport a much sleeker, coupe-like roofline.

The hybrid model of the Sonata will use lithium polymer batteries instead of the ubiquitous lithium-ion. The polymer batteries are said to be more durable and cheaper to make. The test group consisted of Hyundai’s well-known hybrid battery specialists who tested the Sonatas alongside a variety of competitive hybrids could attest to that.

Hyundai also can boast experience with the non-traditional polymer batteries as Hyundai already produces polymer-based hybrid vehicles in South Korea.

While the regular Sonata should start production for the U.S. in the summer of 2010, the hybrid model may follow as early as October 2010 as a 2011 model.
